How the incident unfolded

Police allege the 27-year-old woman was swinging a kitchen knife at people along King Street in Newtown shortly after 11:30am on Monday. Witnesses reported shouting “run everyone, there’s a lady with a knife” as she was seen screaming and waving the weapon. One witness said officers tasered her twice because she would not put the knife down.
