Hong Kong actor Lawrence Ng (吳啟華) has become one of Hong Kong’s most-searched names after a netizen photographed him waiting for a ferry at Tsim Sha Tsui’s China Ferry Terminal. The 62-year-old appeared relaxed in a white cardigan, black T-shirt and patterned wide trousers, scrolling on his phone while masked.

The sighting turned into gossip because of the young long-haired woman standing beside him. Social media quickly speculated that Ng had found a new girlfriend, a decade after his divorce. But an on-site witness deflated the rumours: the woman is Ng’s assistant, seen carrying a laptop bag and rolling a large suitcase.

Lawrence Ng Spotted at Tsim Sha Tsui Ferry Terminal

According to 香港01, which first reported the sighting on 15 October, Ng was waiting at the China Ferry Terminal, apparently bound for the Greater Bay Area. Photographs show him sitting quietly among other passengers, keeping a low profile in a face mask.

星島頭條 reported the same sighting with a slightly different angle, saying Ng was returning to Zhongshan, where he owns property. The pair sat side by side, which fed the first wave of speculation before witnesses identified the woman as his assistant.

Lawrence Ng’s Family Life After Divorce

The 香港經濟日報 (HKET) added background on Ng’s private life. Since his 2014 divorce from mainland actress 石洋子, who is 21 years his junior, Ng has remained single. The two married in 2007 and had a daughter, 吳熙兒, the following year.

HKET reports that his daughter lives mainly with her maternal grandmother in Changchun and is now studying in Canada. Ng is said to pay 60,000 RMB a month in alimony, with total monthly support for his daughter and her grandmother’s household exceeding 200,000 RMB.

Lawrence Ng’s Mainland Career and Property Portfolio

Ng moved his career focus to mainland China in 2007 and has rarely looked back. He now works across commercial appearances, short-video platforms and livestream selling, and co-owns a production company with friends.

His property moves have earned him a nickname in the Hong Kong press: 大灣區樓王, the Greater Bay Area property king, after he bought six flats in the region in a single purchase in 2018. He also owns property in Zhongshan and is a noted watch collector with more than 40 Rolex timepieces. Investors watching the region can check the Hong Kong earnings calendar on Meyka for upcoming company results.

For many Hong Kong viewers, Ng remains 程至美 from TVB’s 妙手仁心 (Healing Hands), the role that earned him the nickname 師奶殺手. A candid photo of the actor at a ferry terminal was enough to send the search term 吳啟華 up 800 percent on Google Trends.

Ng has said little about his private life in recent years, which may explain why a simple ferry-terminal sighting became one of the day’s most-searched Hong Kong stories.
